Day of Caring

Every Fall, the Batavia United Way organizes a Day of Caring to help Senior Citizens in Batavia rake their fall leaves. Volunteers simply bring a rake, gloves and tarps to get a raking assignment. Yards are raked ONLY; no mowing, no weed pulling. This is a fun time and ONLY 2 hours of your Sunday. The more the merrier, bring family and friends. For Fall raking dates, to volunteer or to sign up a Senior Citizen needing assistance, contact Final dates is determined by Mother Nature.

2017 – This annual service is scheduled for Sunday, November 5, 2017 – to be confirmed as we see how fast the leaves drop this year.  Meet at 1:00 pm on the front lawn of Suicide Prevention Services at 52 S. Batavia Ave.  Batavian Dan Bombard will lead the event.  He will divide the volunteers into groups and assign addresses.  For more information on how you can help or if you know a Senior Citizen that could use a crew, please call 630-877-2780 or email
