Christina Marotta: A Champion for Batavia’s Youth
As 2025 progresses, Batavia United Way is taking a moment to celebrate the remarkable contributions of our current Vice President, Christina Marotta. Christina has been an invaluable member of our Board of Directors since joining in 2019, and her dedication and passion have left a positive mark on our organization and the wider Batavia community. Christina has had a transformational impact on our Success By 6 Preschool Scholarship Program, helping to secure preschool for more than 40 Batavia children!
To honor her commitment, we sat down with Christina for a quick Q&A to reflect on her time with Batavia United Way:
Why have you chosen to give your time as a Board Member of BUW?
“I believe wholeheartedly in the mission of BUW. It’s inspiring to see how BUW connects directly with our local partners to develop real solutions that foster a stronger community where every single person has the opportunity to thrive.”
From your point of view, what kind of impact does Batavia United Way make on
the community?
“Batavia United Way has its finger on the pulse of our community’s needs. Our dedicated leadership and board work tirelessly to address these needs through innovative programs and by actively engaging our community members to make a tangible difference in crucial areas like youth opportunities, healthcare access, financial stability, and overall community resilience.”
What current initiatives or projects are you most excited about?
“I am particularly passionate about Batavia United Way’s Success by 6 program. Providing access to preschool for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity gives them a crucial foundation for a successful start in their elementary education. It’s an investment in their future and the future of our community.”
What message would you like to share with the community or other supporters of the organization?
“A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible organizations we collaborate with, as well as our dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors! Your support is the backbone of everything we do. We simply couldn’t achieve our goals without your unwavering commitment.
And to those in the community looking for a meaningful way to get involved, we are always eager to welcome new volunteers who can bring their skills and passion to help us bring our ideas to life. We also deeply appreciate sponsors who help us fuel our initiatives and expand our impact.”
How has being on this board impacted your own personal or professional growth?
“It fills me with immense pride to see the positive outcomes we’ve achieved as a cohesive team within our community. The individuals who make up Batavia United Way are truly exceptional – each one deeply committed to making Batavia the strongest and most vibrant community it can be.”
