One of the ways we do this is by providing community impact grants to support essential programs like Batavia RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and their Medical Assistance Program (MAP).
What is Batavia RSVP?
Batavia RSVP is a vital program of seniors supporting seniors, that supports retired senior citizens in our community. Through their Medical Assistance Program, they provide crucial healthcare services to income-challenged seniors in Batavia and Batavia Township.
How Does the Medical Assistance Program Help?
The Medical Assistance Program offers a lifeline to seniors who may struggle with healthcare costs. Here’s how it works:
- Prescription Drug Subsidy: For many seniors, the cost of prescription drugs can be overwhelming. That’s why Batavia RSVP’s MAP provides up to $3,000.00 annually to qualifying seniors, helping to alleviate the financial burden of necessary medications.
- Dental Care Support: Dental health is crucial for overall well-being, but it can be costly. The MAP covers dental work, including a teeth cleaning and dental assessment, up to a cost of $350.00 for qualifying seniors.
- Optometry Visits: Good vision is essential for maintaining independence and quality of life. Qualifying seniors can receive an annual visit to an optometrist at a cost of $250.00, ensuring they have access to the eye care they need.
What else does Batavia RSVP do?
In addition to the Medical Assistance Program, Batavia RSVP provides additional services for seniors including providing free smoke and carbon monoxide detector installation and transportation to medical appointments for seniors. In addition, Batavia RSVP in partnership with the Batavia Fire Department provide exterior lock box installation containing a key to the home in the case of a medical emergency.
